Conclusion
These two cultures are very different. The majority of the death practices are very different but there were some similarities that I find interesting. First, they both believed in an afterlife. They both believed there was a further purpose for us after our lives here. Second, they buried their dead with objects to help them in the next step of getting to the afterlife and lastly, they believed that the afterlife was a place you had to travel to. The Ancient Egyptians believed that the spirit needed a boat to reach Adydos while the Native Americans believed that you would have to travel 4 days to reach the afterlife. These similarities tell me that in all cultures we need to have a belief there is something more important to look forward to in the afterlife. I think it provides us with comfort to believe there is existence after this world to look forward to.
